Are you aware that there is a scheme that enables shoppers to give donations to charities whilst they shop online OR in store for themselves with NO additional payment? Does that sound too good to be true? I thought it was but it works and the 3 original members who have signed up have raised nearly £1,000 in the last 3 years. This year another 7 members have signed up so we expect to be receiving at a higher level in the future.

Easy Fundraising has signed up around 8,500 online selling companies, to provide charitable donations (either fixed sum or a % ranging from 0.5% to as much as 15%!!) for any online purchases completed through their links. Instead of going direct to Tesco, for example, you just need to go to the Easy Fundraising website and select Tesco on it – this captures your purchase and ensures that the donation eventually is forwarded to the Guild. They have signed up all the supermarket chains, Retailers such as John Lewis, the insurance market – including the comparison websites- and all the big companies that you know well. In return the organisations undertake to generate material to try to encourage members of large organisations like us, with almost 1,000 members, to consider the process.

Recently Easy Fundraising has also agreed that in store purchases can deliver some donations as well. Although this area requires you to provide your credit card details to Easy Fundraising and I can understand that may not be acceptable to some of you.

I would like to encourage more members to sign up. In total the scheme has 2.5 million supporters who have together generated around £80m in donations for 190,000 good causes. Does it sound too good to be true? Your information will probably be used, but I have not noticed any more issues than buying direct to the retailers and this way donations are received by charities.

Further there are incentives of £5 per member who signs up using the link above beside the scheme and goes on to generate £5 worth of donations.

We used to use Give as you live scheme as well but they have proved to be less clear in administration and so I have decided to concentrate on the Easy Fund Raising scheme.
