Saturday 8th July 2023 was another busy Second Saturday Guild members.
There was a marvellous turn out (24 ringers) in the morning for the Guild 10-bell practice at Rothwell, meeting the hope of ringing Bristol and London Royal, but also covering other methods such as Little Bob Royal and Stedman Caters. It is a practice that aims to cater for the needs and desires of all who attend.
A smaller group gathered at the scheduled training session in the afternoon at Great Oakley for the Bell Maintenance course. Five learners were able to attend and find out about how to look after some of the fixtures and fittings at their own towers (as well as how marvellous the Great Oakley ringers are at baking!)
The evening saw the second Guild Intermediate 8-bell practice, this time at Weedon Bec. A smaller turn out, but a cooler practice, than last year at Whilton! However, it was still a wonderful chance to try out Kent Treble Bob Major, Double Norwich Court Bob Major as well as get to grips with plain courses and touches of Single Oxford Bob Triples.
And finally, a break was taken during the practice at Weedon Bec to draw the 100 Club winners for July – Mick Dainty, Lee Balderstone and Hilary Hardie. Congratulations to them and, as usual, if you want to join, just get in touch.
